Sew in your ends. You could use fleece or fabric for the Back
of the cushion but I like a felted jumper. Put a wool jumper in the washing
machine with something heavy like the bath mat or a couple of pairs of jeans
then wash on a hot wash. The fibres of the woolly jumper will knit together and
felt so it will not unravel when you cut it.
Cut 2 back pieces, each 2/3 of the size of the front of the
cushion so you get a good overlap on your envelope back.
To make the decorative edge –  Row 1 attach the yarn and make double crochets
evenly along  the edge of your rectangle
leaving 1cm clear at each end ( the seam allowance) where you will attach it to
the front.
A 3 mm hook should push through the jumper but if it is too
tricky you could sew a row of blanket stitch instead.
Mark the position of three buttons evenly across the width
of the piece of jumper with a pin.
Row 2 – chain 1 and make 1 double crochet in each stitch to
the first pin then chain4 and skip 2 stitches, double crochet in the third
stitch to make the button hole. Make a double crochet in each stitch to the
next pin chain 4 and skip 2 stitches and make the second button hole continue
in the same way and make the third button hole. Finish off and weave in the
end.
Repeat Row 1 on the top edge of the second rectangle for the
envelope back to give it a neat finish.
Place both back pieces on top of the crochet front with right
sides facing and the two back pieces overlapping. Pin and sew all the way round
the edge.
Turn right side out and sew on the buttons.
